One of the three great festivals in Kyoto.
A procession of thousands people dressed in ancient costumes, representing different epochs of Kyoto's 1200 year history.
Starts from Kyoto Imperial Palace at 12 noon and proceeds through the city main streets, passes along Karasuma-Oike at about 12:50pm and reaches Heian Shrine at 2:30pm.
The procession is long and it goes on for about an hour.
Should it rain, it will be postponed until the next day.

Exciting festival.
Long row of torches planted on both sides of the street leading to Yuki Shrine are lit at 6pm.
Children in festival dress march to the Shrine carrying small torches, followed by adults with bigger torches.
